[It’s been a few months since Gil started dating Aether. After his boyfriend moved in, it was surprisingly easy to adjust. He’s already basically nocturnal, and it didn't take him long to get used to living with another person. He'd always thought he'd be perfectly fine living alone, but now he can't imagine not living with Aether.]

Meant to be...

[He smiles as he withdraws his keys. He's still is in awe Aether is a vampire. There are times he forgets, until he realizes it's been a while since he drank blood, or he catches his fangs. Did that mean other vampires existed? Unlocking the door, he enters their apartment.]

Aether? Are you home?

[Living with Gil was the best decision of his life. That's what Aether thinks to himself every single day. He's never felt this much comfort and closeness to anyone, not even his own family. He wakes up to Gil's smile, he goes to sleep by his side. The loneliness inside his heart has finally disappeared.

How wonderful.

But apparently life is never perfect. He notices something off. A shadow among the trees that he can see from outside the window. It seems to be watching him...

The sound of door opening and Gil entering startles him. Aether tries to collect himself, before he greets Gil with a smile.]

Hey, yeah! I'm here.

[He still looks slightly nervous.]

[Gil is so glad he ran into Aether. He feels like he’s known him his whole life and that he can truly open up to him. He’s never slept well but now he does.

He doesn’t notice that Aether startles, but his smile wanes when he notices the hint of nervousness in his expression. Shutting the door behind him, he puts his stuff down on a chair near the counter. He never really decorated, but now that he’s not living alone he’s started to make an attempt.]

Is everything okay? [His concern grows.] Wait, when was the last time you fed?

[Aether relaxes more, then reaches for Gil's hand.]

I thought... I saw something outside, but now I think it was just my imagination.

[Gil doesn't need to know that there are people out there who hunt vampires. Why would any of them find Aether here anyway? Or suspect him of being a vampire?

It's fine... It's going to be all fine.]

Ah, it's been a moment, I think. But I'm fine, so don't worry too much.

[Gil frowns, looking worried as he holds Aether’s hand. He’s used to usually being on guard, and when someone he trusts as much as Aether says something he takes it seriously.]

Was it a person? Something else? Did it look strange?

[Did other supernatural people exist?? Humming in thought, Gil feels Aether’s forehead with the back of his palm despite him reassuring him.]

You seem normal…

I think it... could be a person.

[Maybe he should actually tell Gil the truth, especially since he could be in danger, too. But only if there really is some vampire hunter stalking them.

He shouldn't drink blood for a while now. A mark on Gil's neck could expose them.]

Yeah! See? I'll be fine for a few more days... maybe a week!

Did something seem off about them?

[Why would Aether be worried about a person? Now Gil is worried. Something seems wrong, but he can't put his finger on what.]

You shouldn't push yourself. I don't want you to get sick again.

[Aether hesitates for a long moment, not looking Gil in the eyes. Eventually, he gives in. It's too dangerous for his partner to be left in the dark.]

I... It may be a hunter. [There's a tremble in his voice as he says that.] There are people out there who hunt vampires. I probably should not drink from you for some time. If someone sees you with a mark...

[He doesn't even want to think about it.]

A hunter?

[Those exist? Gil pales, reaching for Aether's hand. It hurts, hearing that tremble in his voice.]

You can drink from my wrist, but-- is there anything that makes a hunter stand out? Equipment? How they act?

[He needs to confront them. Just hoping they'll decide Aether isn't a vampire is too much of a risk.]

[This is the kind of reaction he was worried about the most. He frowns, shaking his head, not because he doesn't have an idea of how to identify a hunter, but because he doesn't want Gil to get hurt.]

Please, stay calm! And... don't go looking for them. It's not safe.

[He squeezes Gil's hand, then tries to direct him to the couch to sit down.]

It'll be fine... maybe they will go away if I keep a low profile. I'm not even sure if it's really a hunter there anyway!

But we need more information!

[He wants to look out the window. He wants to leave the apartment and track down whoever's hunting Aether. But he follows him to the couch. He struck him as someone who wouldn't say something like this unless he was sure.]

Have you gone through this before...?

[He doesn't let go of Gil's hand even as they both sit down on the couch. There's a guilty look on his face.]

I... have. Yes.

[His frown is deep.]

I moved to a different place, tried to lose them. I thought I was pretty good at that. [He tries to laugh about it. It looks like he was mistaken.]

[Gil stares at Aether. As he explains, his expression goes from worried to sad. He shakes his head, pulling Aether close.]

You shouldn't have to move. Or hide! That's no way to live, and I don't want you to be in danger.

[He's easily brought closer.]

I... I don't want to move either. I don't want to uproot your life... but I suppose I already brought chaos into it.

[He wishes there was an easier solution to this problem than escape.]

[He's quiet.]

...Before we met, my life was so gloomy. I don't mind moving. I'd move as many times as we need. But-- but I want to make sure you're truly safe.

Gil...

[He reaches out to touch the other's face gently.]

But what if we'd have to keep running away all the time? I don't want you to change places over and over again because of me. Having... a home is important.

[He understands that all too well. He once had a place he called "home" too.]
